I was born and brought up on the Shetland Islands, remote islands situated between the Scottish mainland and Norway, on the fringe of the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea. Shetland is often referred to as 'Ultima Thule', which means 'distant islands located beyond the borders of the known world'. My bloodlines have lived there for countless generations, and my birth name 'Sanna Isbister', is itself of Norse origin.

As a young woman I acquired a BSc in Sports Science & Physical Education from Loughborough University, England and then returned to college in Shetland a few years later to study The Design, Manufacture & Marketing of Knitted Textiles, at Shetland College of FE. I already had a firm foundation in traditional Shetland hand-knitting which was passed on to me by my grandmothers so participating in this course was second nature and a homecoming. This was the beginning of a highly creative period in my Life and on leaving college I set up as a textile designer specialising in bespoke knitted garments and wedding dresses.

My own spiritual unfolding began consciously in the early 2000's when I had a unintentional, spontaneous & profound Spiritual Awakening whilst participating in a yoga class. During this awakening, I dropped my physical body and spontaneously expanded into a supra conscious state of ecstatic bliss, knowing mySelf as 'Oneness' with the whole of Creation. It was as if I'd woke up from a dreary, numb, black and white dream into experiencing mySelf as Life itself, beyond my known sensory perception. As a result, my everyday living reality was quite literally spun upside-down and outside-in, and it was impossible for me to view my experience of the world in the same way again.

Consequently, in 2004 in the spirit of a true bohemian, I embraced an inner journey to know myself in a deeper, more authentic way and a call~of~the~heart lead me to West Cork, Ireland .... another mystical home where my roots now run deep and are nourished by the raw, untamed beauty of this Sacred land.

Very quickly on arriving in Ireland, through a very fortuitous connection, I learned about an Indian Spiritual Teacher called Her Holiness Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi, an Enlightened Master, and Global Humanitarian, based in the USA. Since our first physical meeting in 2006, Sai Maa's extraordinary Divine Love, Compassion, Wisdom, Devotion and Spiritual Power, continuously inspires and guides me to grow and expand into the fullness of who I Am.
